The George Inn, Norton St Philip

Welcome to the George Inn where open fires, cozy rooms and a warm welcome awaits you.

Great food, drink and accommodation only 7 miles from Bath.

Fourteen minutes from Bath and set in scenery of rolling green Somerset hills, this 700 year old inn has much to delight - Character bedrooms with beams and antique furniture, cosy bars, and an ancient galleried courtyard.

The George is a grade one listed building situated in an idyllic setting with beautiful views. Our garden overlooks the village church against a backdrop of un-spoilt rural scenery. In the adjoining field there is a children’s playground.

The village of Norton St Philip is a real find as it has come through the centuries remarkably undisturbed.

Use our Google 360 Tour to have a look around:

Architecturally, you can see mullion windows, stone-tiled roofs and the local stone facings of the cottages. There are medieval buildings and a number of cottages built in the 17th and 18th centuries. For explorers the national Trust Village of Lacock and the historic town of Bradford Upon Avon are a short drive away and a visit to the nearby Longleat House, one of the most magnificent stately homes and gardens in Britain together with its safari park, is not to be missed.

The local country side is intersected by footpaths and bridleways which are great for walks and discovering our local wildlife.

The Plaine, situated immediately across the road from the George, has been acquired to offer additional bedroom facilities. It has been lovingly refurbished with contemporary designed rooms. Check in, parking and breakfast take place at the George Inn.
